Title:
Joint Fact Finding: A Strategy for Resolving Information Conflicts
Authors:
Lawrence Susskind, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA
Abstract:
The complexity and uncertainty surrounding environmental resource management efforts, especially when multiple stakeholders with varying levels of technical training are involved, requires new techniques and strategies to resolve information conflicts. Joint fact finding (JFF) is a consensus building tool that can be used in such situations to help resolve science-intensive policy disputes. The results of JFF experiments and their implications will be presented.
